Location B - North Central

The chart on the right shows Profile P3 as 3 (green) and P4 as 4 (cyan). The vertical exaggeration is about 4 times.

Locations are shown as colored dots in the map (upper left corner).

North Central Location B1

The road in the foreground runs up to 28 meters (Figure 1A). At places the terrace is too narrow for houses on both sides (Figure 1B). The next level up, at about 60 meters, is also very narrow at this point but there is enough space for houses, after rock alteration (Figure 1C).

North Central Locations B2 and B3

These views are at 72±2 meters. Note that the lower terraces are too narrow to be visible from this elevation (Figure 2).

There appears to be a very narrow terrace at this elevation used for roads here and elsewhere within the study area, evidence that the breakpoints in the profiles are not artifacts.

The Equatorial Hotel is just visible at the extreme left of Figure 3.

North Central Location B4

The Equatorial Hotel stands on the 30-meter terrace and rises to about 120±10 meters (Figure 4). A road gives access to the lobby level at about 66±2 meters (marked as waypoint 5; no photo) An arrow points to the swimming pool area at 63±2 meters (marked as waypoint 7). The terrace at the 65-meter level is quite extensive as indicated by the fact that a country club has premises at the same level and a parking lot at about 60 meters.

North Central Location B7

The country club has a golf course visible from the hotel parking level below the swimming pool (Figure 5 at Location 7 in the map). The elevation of this end of the course appears to range from 15 to 30 meters. I was not able to get access.

There are no photographs for Locations B5 and B6.

General comments

This part of the study area seems to have an extensive terrace at an elevation of about 66±2 meters. However, there is some indication also of a terrace at 72±2 meters. Earth moving may have altered the sites, so that field observations cannot determine if there are two terraces. However, the topographic map does indicate two terraces.
