Large wetland complex - Estonia

Southern Estonia is depicted in this scene which renders vegetation in green. The white rectangle contains one of many wetland areas of Estonia, the Nigula Nature Reserve, near the border with Latvia. This multispectral image was created from data acquired by the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) aboard the EOS Terra satellite. Special processing (decorrelation stretch) was used to compress the information of all visible and infrared bands into a single image covering an area of 3,600 km² at 15 m resolution. ASTER data is available with various levels of processing.
