Part of the Prince of Wales Ice Field is shown in this image of Ellesmere Island, which is located near the northernmost point of North America not far from Greenland. Meltwater from the glacier has deposited several outwash plains with braided channels extending to Bay Fiord on the west coast of the island, one of which is shown in the photograph at the bottom of the page. This RADARSAT image was cropped from a mosaic made from imagery acquired during 1998 and 1999 covering the whole of Canada at 250 m resolution. The image was supplied free of charge by Natural Resources Canada, Canada Centre for Remote Sensing. (File size: 438 Mb; 155 Mb zipped. Lower resolutions with smaller file sizes are available.)
