Northwestern Pacific, the Kamchatka Peninsula

The topography of the Kamchatka Peninsula is depicted in this scene. The lower image shows a map derived by processing part of the DEM data in IDRISI. GTOPO30 is a global digital elevation model (DEM) developed between 1993 and 1996 using many data sources, including satellite imagery, as a collaborative effort led by staff of the U.S. Geological Survey, EROS Data Center. Elevations in GTOPO30 are regularly spaced at 30-arc seconds (approximately 1 kilometer). GTOPO30 data is available for downloading free of charge from the USGS - NASA Distributed Active Archive Center. (IDRISI users need to use FLIP on import to change the byte order from Unix to Intel.)
