Multispectral Image of the Okavango Delta

These images depict the Okavango Delta near the town of Maun, located at the southern edge of Africa's greatest wetland. The river shown at the lower right corner of the scene in the first panel drains to the Boteti River and then to the Central Kalahari Desert. The browse image (left image in the first panel) is a multispectral composite created from the blue, green, and near infrared bands of the IKONOS-2 sensor. The original set of images, dated May 13, 2001, has a resolution of 4 meters. Many images such as this are available for research purposes related to Safari 2000 (http://bsrsi.msu.edu/trfic/SAFARI2000/IKONOS.html).
