The image shows several debris flows on the northwest flank of Mount Shasta, one large from the Pleistocene (orange line from Crandell) and several smaller from the Holocene (red lines from Osterkamp, et al). The Holocene is also called the Recent because it covers the last 10,000 years.
The line A-B marks part of a circle used to show the base of the volcano at about the 1220 meter (4400 foot) contour. The point C marks the location of waterfalls from the Bolam glacier whose meltwater enters Bolam Creek shown as a red line. The Holocene debris flows are all associated with glaciers near the summit, shown in white (Osterkamp).
