Panorama East

This panoramic view shows the central business district. Komtar, the tallest building in the distant right, is a shopping and administrative center for government, Komtar. The building on the near right with scafolding is a town hall that is being restored.

To make the image shown above, the following two photos were stitched together using the program Panavue. The footpath at the edge of the playing field is not stitched so well as the rest of the image. Experimentation shows that several attempts may be necessary to produce a seamless panorama. For example, the left photo could be rotated a little more counterclockwise before stitching in order to line up the footpaths.

To make the verticals more erect, this image was also processed using the program IRISI Kilimanjaro, an operation that also requires experimentation. The compromise shown here has the left image tilted slightly too far to the right indicating that further counterclockwise tilt of the right image before doing the stiching might correct the verticals. A simpler approach might be to acquire more shots of each scene to ensure that some pairs are just right for stitching together.
